The one where the new trainee starts
The episode opens with Rosie beginning her role as the new trainee designer in the Bluestorm studio. As we are introduced, we see that she is friendly, straight haired outgoing, family oriented and big fan of a long-running American comedy.
She quickly realises that, although the characters she meets aren’t overly deep, they are sketches of various types that we all know and can identify with: the control freak, perfectionist, the clumsy nerd, the flighty but sweet new-ager, the lovable idiot and the white collar stiff whose nod to life is irony.
The characters can be annoying, but rarely unlikeable. As she walks to her workstation, her neighbouring colleague, Reg, offers her a seat. “How you doin’?”, he says. She is so going to like it here.
Rosie likes Friends.
